BCS Rankings - They were right

System

Clark and I used numbers and nothing else.  We used data before the bowl games but after the conference championships.  Our system would have set the following bowl games:

RANK
TEAM TOP 25 WINS LOSS 1 LOSS 2 CC TOTAL
1 LSU 5 0 0 1 6
2 VA TECH 3 0 0 1 4
3 OHIO ST. 1 0 1 1 3
3 OKLAHOMA 3 -1 0 1 3
3 HAWAII 0 1 1 1 3
6 GEORGIA 3 0 0 0 3
7 MISSOURI 2 0 0 0 2
8 USC 1 -1 0 1 1
8 W VIRGINIA 1 0 -1 1 1
9 KANAS 0 0 1 0 1

Top 25

I used the AP Poll and awarded 1 point for every top 25 team beaten.

Losses

If you lost to a team with a losing record, we subtracted a point. For every loss under 2, a point was awarded.

Conference Championship

Teams that win their conference receive 1 point.

Superbowl in September

Dsc04140Pictures from the Saints Game are available here at Flickr.  After pulling an all nighter on Sunday, Clark and I drove down to New Orleans for the game.  We stopped in Metarie to pick up Todd Villarubia, an estate planning attorney and hell of a nice guy.  We all went to Port of Call for some Monsoons and burgers.  The city was packed with tons of drunks Saints fans and I probally heard  Whodat about 100 times before the game started.  We saw Cowboy Mouth and the Goo Goo Dolls on stages outside the dome.  We went into the stadium early and still had to wait 45 minutes to get in. Clark had gotten us press passes and we got to go on the field to watch the Saint's warm up.  Blanco and Nagin were doing interviews and former President Bush was 4 feet in front of me.  Needless to say it was pretty sureal.  We went to our seats and saw Greenday and U2 opened the show.  The place was rocking and when the Saints blocked the kick and scored a touchdown it was as loud as when LSU won the National Championship in the dome 2 years ago.  I have always been a fair weather Saint's Fan but this team has made me a believer.
